In 2011 ExplorMine Consultants was commissioned by Pan African Resources to complete a Competent Persons Report on Manica Gold Project.
The Manica Project area is situated approximately 4 km north of the town of Manica, which lies approximately 270 km west northwest of the city of Beira. The Project area lies close to the Mozambican border with Zimbabwe.
The Manica Project area is geographically subdivided into the following prospect areas:
- Fair Bride
- Dot’s Luck
- Guy Fawkes
- Boa Esperanca
The Manica Project is situated on the eastern end of the Odzi-Mutare-Manica greenstone belt where two target zones, namely the Fair Bride -Dot’s Luck Zone and the Guy Fawkes – Duque – Boa Esperanca Zone, have been identified.
Gold has been mined along the Odzi-Mutare-Manica greenstone belt since prehistoric times and recorded since the 12th century. Gold has been recovered from both placers (alluvial) and reefs (shears and veins).
